Username and passwords
To log in to your student email you will need to use your student number and Pheme password.
Graduate lifetime email
Graduates lose access to student email accounts 12 months after they complete their course (note that this is from the day where your course status is recorded as completed).All students currently enrolled at UWA are automatically assigned an email address.
It is important that you check this email address regularly, as it will be used by the University for official correspondence with you, including:
- Information about your fees and enrolment
- Exam information
- Notices from Information Services
- Communications from lecturers and tutors
- And much more
The UWA student email system is a comprehensive student communications and collaboration suite.
Access
You can access your student email account through a variety of methods:
- Directly through the webmail at https://mail.student.uwa.edu.au
- Through the Learning Management System (LMS)
- On your device
You will need an active Pheme account. Commencing students will need to activate their Pheme account before they can access their email.
Addresses
All students currently enrolled at UWA are automatically assigned an email address. Your email address will be in the format of:[email protected]
If you are a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) student undertaking any of the following degrees you are eligible to activate a UWA research email alias:
- PhD
- Professional Doctorate
- Masters by Thesis
- Masters by Thesis and Coursework

You will still retain your existing student email account and email addressed to the UWA research email alias will simply be delivered to your existing student email account. Official UWA notification email messages will continue to be delivered to your Inbox.

The UWA email service includes:

- Student Sites
You will need to accept a terms of service and privacy policy in order to use your student email account. You will be prompted to do so when logging in to your email for the first time.
You are still bound by the UWA Computer and Software Use Regulations, the University's Email Policy and all other applicable policies which apply to the use of University systems. More information about the security and privacy of our email service is available online.
