Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Science (FNAS) student IT support

Students can access email, internet, saved files and print quotas from any one of four undergraduate computer labs.

Labs

These four labs can be found in the Geography, Agriculture, Zoology and Botany Buildings on the Crawley Campus. The labs are always available, so that all students of the Faculty have access to computers. Use your campus card to arrange after-hours access to the larger labs.

During scheduled teaching times, students involved in classes have priority access to computers but you can still use any available computer.

Internet

Lab computers have internet access and to use the internet off-campus, although you need to authenticate your access. There is a rolling quota system to ensure all students have equal access to the internet.

Internet and network access is available to students on and off-campus, as are instructions on how to connect your laptop to the UWA network.

Printing

To cover coursework requirements, every semester undergraduate students are given a print quota of 50 pages for every FNAS unit.

Undergraduate computer labs have laser printers, and colour-laser printing is also available in some labs.

Consult the lab locations for more information about printing facilities and increasing printing quotas.

Please note:

  • An additional print quota can be purchased at school or Faculty offices near the computer labs.
  • Your printing quota is not supposed to be used for printing course notes, as these are supplied by your lecturers.

Email

Every undergraduate gets an email address from the University. This is the only email address the University and your lecturers will use for official communication and you can access this account from any computer lab.

You can also access your email with webmail when you are not on campus.
