Using your student email

Make sure you are logged into UWA Student Email.

The address is http://mail.student.uwa.edu.au

  1. Compose an email
  2. Add a recipient

Compose an email

Click on 'Compose Mail' on the top of the left hand column.

  1. Enter your recipient's email address. You can type the address in the 'To:' field, or find the address in your Contacts list.

  1. Enter a subject for your message in the 'Subject:' field.
  2. Write your message. Click in the large field and type away.
  3. When you're finished, click the Send button (located just above the 'To:' field). You'll see a confirmation at the top of the window that your message was sent.

Add a recipient

You can add a recipient in one of three ways:

  1. Enter an email address directly.
  2. Add a contact from the UWA address book.
  3. Add a contact from your personal address book.
  1. To search through all contacts, type part of the recipient's email address or the first part of their name into the 'To' field.

  1. For a UWA contact you can put in their student number (for example, 12345678) or their username (smithj01).

  1. Then select the correct contact from the drop down list using the arrow keys and then hit enter. Alternatively, you can also select it using the mouse cursor. Further information is available at Google Mail.

Add a CC

To add a CC (Carbon Copy recipient):

  1. Click on the 'Add CC' link.
  2. Type in the address of the CC recipient. If this is a contact or UWA person, their address will begin to pop up after you have typed a few characters.

Add a BCC

To add a BCC (Blind Carbon Copy recipient):

  1. Click on the Add BCC link.
  2. Type the email address of the recipient into the BCC field. If they are a contact or UWA person, the email address should pop up after a few keystrokes.

Add an attachment

  1. Select the 'attach a file' link underneath the Subject line.
