Get It is our service for document delivery and inter-library loan.

Use Get It to request items from other libraries, receive articles electronically and track the progress of your requests.

Eligibility

UWA staff, postgraduates and honours students

The following document delivery services are provided for UWA staff, postgraduates and honours students. These services are not available to undergraduate students, although some fourth and final year undergraduate students are eligible.

To find out if you are eligible, contact your subject library.

Placing a request

Check OneSearch to make sure Information Services does not hold the item before placing a request.

Multiple journal articles must have a separate request for each item in order to comply with copyright.

Please try to include a full and accurate citation for the material you want you are requesting in order to speed up processing.

How long does it take?

The time varies greatly, depending on the availability of the item and the range of possible suppliers. On average, you should allow one to two weeks for material from Australian sources, and longer if only available overseas.

There are many "not for loan" types of material that can be difficult to source: reference books, rare books, complete journal volumes etc.

If you need an item urgently please enter a "Wanted by" date in the Get It request form. if the item is required within 2 days we then try to source the item as a "Rush request" although delivery within 48 hours can't be guaranteed.

Costs and charges

The cost of a loan or copy depends on the source of supply and on the service level requested.

  • Most Australian libraries charge $16.50 for a standard (core) request.
  • Rush service will cost at least $33.00 per request, plus postage charges if applicable.
  • Commercial and overseas suppliers are more expensive.

Each faculty has an annual allocation in the Information Services budget for document delivery and inter-library loans so the costs are not passed on to the requester. Check with your subject library or your department or school's Information Services Liaison Officer for more information.

Only materials related to UWA activities (teaching and learning, study, research, administration) may be requested against the faculty allocations.
