Access to computers

Access to computers is authenticated. Both staff and students should log on using their UWA number and Pheme password. A guest account is provided for users other than UWA staff and students.

  • UWA staff have unrestricted access to services and resources available on the internet.
  • UWA students have unrestricted access to services and resources available on the internet. For unrestricted access UWA students must enter their "full service" student account details when prompted.
  • Guests have unrestricted access to resources and selected websites only.

Laptop computers for lending

The Medical and Dental Library has four laptop computers available for lending to UWA staff and students; these computers are for use within the Medical and Dental Library only. Software available on laptops is the same as that listed for our other desktop computers. Internet access is via Unifi.

Laptops are available for a renewable three-hour loan period between the hours of 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday. Laptops come equipped with:

  • a power cord
  • a lockable cable to attach the laptop to a desk
  • a mouse.

Our computers are IBM-compatible PCs running the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system.

This list is subject to change.

Library computers can read from CD-ROMs, DVDs and USB devices, and can save to USB devices.

You must save all documents to a removable drive. You can temporarily save documents to the Documents folder while you are logged on to the computer.
